Scale models of hydro machinery tested in the laboratories are, despite large advancements in CFD, still widely used for determining the characteristics of built prototype machines. This is especially true for large machines, where accurate prediction of behavior and characteristics is a key. Homologous models are built according to the technical documentation and tested in the laboratory with the highest possible accuracy of measured efficiency.
